TRENDS ROUND-UP: Backstage beauty and hair at London Fashion Week

With backstage access to all of London Fashion Week’s hottest shows, InStyle.co.uk was right on the pulse for breaking beauty trends…

As quickly as Fashion Week arrived in London, it was over, but at least we’ve now got time for a quick recap of AW11’s best beauty looks coming up for September.

There were some clear trends emerging on the beauty front at LFW with stained red lips and pretty ponytails being the most prominent. House of Holland hit two-in-one with fresh, bouncy ponytails and perfect scarlet pouts while Jaeger went for a more toned-down version using an off-red rouge on the lips and sleek straight tied-up locks.

Another catwalk look that will definitely be a hit for everyday, is natural glamour. Best of British brands Mulberry and Paul Smith championed the look sending girls with healthy, voluminous hair and barely-there make-up down the runway. Meanwhile, Lucia Pieroni using Chantecaille at Christopher Kane went for a wintry take on nude to work with the season, as did Val Garland for MAC at Mary Katrantzou.

For fans of high glamour Roksanda Ilincic offers a tip or two. Jerry Hall hair and high shine chocolate lips were a truly luxurious combination that would be fab for a fixture.

Or for experimenting with colour, take a peek at Lisa Houghton using Chantecaille at Peter Pilotto for the parrot green eyes or Vivienne Westwood’s mad mix of hues for inspiration.

If there’s one thing for sure though folks, it’s that AW11’s emphasis was on perfectly polished skin so invest in some great skincare products and find the time to get the right base for your skin tone.
