Buddha Bar’s new head chef has created the perfect "fashion fuel" menu for London Fashion Week – to help fashionistas fuel up and still fit into that body-con dress
London Fashion Week is just over a week away! Which means that 18-hour days and a flu-inducing diet of champagne and canapés isn’t far off either.
Luckily, in our March issue (out now), we investigate how fashionistas eat during fash week. When we read that MAC's senior make-up artist heads to the original Buddha Bar in Paris, we had to play copy-cat in London.
Buddha Bar London is discreetly tucked away underneath Waterloo Bridge (a click of the Louboutin heel from LFW’s Somerset House home), its near-secret entrance belying the cavernous candlelit space within.
The giant Buddha statue catches your eye, but there are cosy private corners, where you’re likely to spot an A-list celebrity or two…dozen (we're talking the likes of Kevin Spacey, Ethan Hawke and Rebecca Hall).
We tried the Fashion Fuel menu by new head chef Clifton Muil – low-calorie pan-Asian classics for catwalk queens, throughout February. On the menu:
STARTERS red miso soup with spring onion and namiko (110 cal); or seaweed salad with wakame, hujiki and shiso (132 cal)
MAINS steamed sea bass with a black bean and rice noodle broth (220 cal); or mushroom and tofu salad (196 cal)
PUDDING selection of exotic and seasonal fruit (160 cal)
Two courses are £19; three courses, £24, and all delicious. We may have cheated just slightly and gone off-piste for pudding – we couldn’t resist warm chocolate cake with hazelnut cream, £7.75 – no, don’t tell us how many calories…
