While the Oscars 2011 was all about the best dresses, a dazzling array of beauty and hair trends hit the red carpet, with Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway leading the way.

OSCARS BEAUTY HALL OF FAME

The biggest trend of the night for beauty was natural looking, fresh, glowing skin.

For Natalie Portman's award-winning look, Dior make-up artists used DiorSkin in Nude to create her exquisite flawless look - along with her natural pregnancy glow of course.

Meanwhile for Michelle William's gorgeous look, Chanel make-up Jeanine Lobell says: "My inspiration was Michelle’s stunning CHANEL 2011 Spring/Summer Haute Couture gown. The dress represented Michelle’s personality - ethereal and sparkling.”

Lips were kept mainly understated with nudes, honey hues and pinks being the main palette of the night, in a variety of shimmers, glosses and matte textures.

Nicole Kidman worked the trend in CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Magnolia - with her make-up artist Angela Levin explaining: "I then used the same shade of lip colour on her cheeks, dabbing the shade on the apples of her cheeks with my finger. One of my favourite red carpet beauty tricks!"

And if most celebs opted for barely-there lips, Oscars host Anne Hathaway gave a nod to old-school Hollywood glamour with a rich red pout to match her red Valentino red carpet gown. Her make-up artist Kate Lee explained that she used CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rivoli, and lightly powdered over her mouth for a matte effect.

HAIR AT THE OSCARS

Hair trends at the Oscars 2011 came in a lustrous array of chic chignons, elegant up-dos and loose, tousled waves.

Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii created a 'texture infusion' for Sandra Bullock's wow-worthy up-do, while for Nicole Kidman's sleek 'do, he went for a "playful ponytail" with a hint of Brigitte Bardot.

Hilary Swank's stunning up-do was inspired by Grace Kelly but given an elegant modern edge said her stylist Robert Vetica who used Moroccanoil products to create the look.

While up-dos may have been the hairstyle of choice for the red carpet bash, Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lawrence, quite literally let their hair down, tumbling in loose, tousled waves over their gowns.
