Once the dress was revealed we waited with baited breath to see the grand lifting of her veil, in order to catch a closer glimpse at her hair and make-up, and true to her girl-next-door image, Kate had kept things simple and elegant.
Though Richard Ward has been tending to Kate's tresses for nearly eight years, she had strict instructions to ensure she had the understated look she desired: "We've had many practise runs - and not just with Kate," said Ward. "The one rule is, by the time she gets to the end of the altar her husband must recognise her."
James Pryce from Richard Ward also made over Kate's mum Carole and sister Pippa, who had equally simple styles for the Royal nuptials.
Professional help was off the menu for Kate's make-up regime however, as she opted for a DIY approach to create the smoky eyes and soft lip look she is known for. Strong brows framed her face, while her complexion appeared glowing and sun-kissed.
Though she shunned help on the day, word has it that she has been taking lessons from bridal make-up expert, Arabella Preston, who shares Kate's favour of the natural look: "I love helping brides make the most of their beauty," she said.
Even if the newlywed does have some stunning genes to help her out, Arabella clearly has a talented protegee on her hands!
