While feathers, masculine tailoring and primary block-colouring, and midi-length are ruling the New York Fashion Week runways, beauty goes grunge-glam at Altuzarra, Goldie Hawn-inspired at Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti, with metallic feline eyes at Derek Lam.
Autumn/winter skin is kept fresh and minimal, with a healthy glow and plenty of highlighting. For eyes and lips the trend emerging is all about the statement feature: winged eyes or poppy pouts.
At Derek Lam, Tom Pecheux for Estee Lauder created metallic feline eyes balanced out by nude-hued lips (see top left), while at Altuzarra for MAC (see middle left) he kept the feline winged-out eye but went much darker with the lips to create what MAC make-up artist Lynsey Alexander calls "A full-on glamazon biker rock chic."
Eyes were a key at Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti as Lynsey created a Goldie Hawn-inspired 60s look with a doe-eyed effect created through plenty of mascara.
Meanwhile, Odile Gilbert for Aveda at Jason Wu (see bottom left) created stunning autumnal gilded gold-leaf twists, while Antoinette Beenders for Aveda at Christian Siriano went for: "Sinuous and matte—beautiful waves that are neither too beachy nor too glam. It’s pretty in the simplest way."
With plenty more show to come, and a gorgeous array of different looks emerging, don't forget to return to InStyle for all the latest updates!
