Chanel beauty never fails to wow us here at InStyle, so when we were offered the exclusive backstage pics from the gorgeous AW11 show from Paris Fashion Week, we just had to share them with you!
With the fantastic Peter Philips creating the stunning make-up looks, the beauty for Chanel's autumn/winter show was very much in line with the dark, ethereal, smouldering collection, which had a distinctly post-apocalyptic fairytale feel to it.
Karl Lagerfeld commented after the show: "The world is a dark place", and this certainly resonated through the whole collection, but as the models emerged and disappeared through huge pockets of white light at the end of the runway, a clear sense of light at the end of the tunnel gave the whole show a mesmerising optimism.

Skin was prepped by Peter using Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum, and then using Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Peter created a flawless, immaculate fresh complexion with Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre, Chanel Eclat Lumiere and of course the Chanel Correcteur Perfection.
To achieve that divine smouldering eye look, Peter used shadows from Chanel's Fall 2011 collection - Illusion D'Ombre in Epatant, Mirifique and Fantasme, with a liner in Le Crayon Yeus Khaki Platine. Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Ebene (N.10) was added with a sweep of Chanel Mascara Inimitable in Black.
Cheeks were left nude without blush, while lips were natural looking, as Le Crayon Levres in Natural and Rouge Allure Velvet in La Furtive were applied.
Nails were rounded but kept to the models' natural shapes, and the absolutely gorgeous, metallic shimmer Le Vernis Graphite - out this autumn - was slicked on. If past seasons are anything to go by, no doubt this will be the must-have shade for AW11.
