InStyle went straight to the pro's behind January's smoking hot look to get the low-down on how to recreate it...
Step 1: Telling tails
“I gathered January’s hair tightly into a ponytail at the high point of her crown and tied it with an elastic band,” says hairstylist Philip Carreon, who sprayed Garnier’s Fructis Style Bamboo Flexihold Anti-Humidity Hairspray (£2.29; available nationwide) for a smooth finish.
Step 2: Nice buns
Next, he curled the ponytail with a medium-sized tong to give the hair some body. “I teased the hair into a deconstructed bun on top of her head and secured it with hair pins,” he says. Carreon finished by using his fingers to create a halo of texture around her hairline.
Step 3: The blues
“Me and January felt a smoky eye was the perfect chic compliment to the high bun,” says Rachel Goodwin, Chanel's celebrity make-up artist. “Using Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow in Blue Celestes (£31.32; 020 7493 3836), I blended three different blue shadows over a black cream colour for an intense finish.”
Step 4: Eighties glamour
“The blue eyeshadow was a fun way of playing on the colour of January’s dress, without being too matchy matchy,” says Goodwin. “I went all eighties with the shape of the eyeshadow, by winging it out at the outer corners,” she says.
