5 Fabulous Things That Happened At The Olivier Awards
Hamilton

Theatrical events don’t get any bigger or sparklier than the Olivier Awards. Held at the Royal Albert Hall, with an incredible lineup of performances from Stephen Sondheim’s Folly’s, 42nd Street and of course the hit musical Hamilton. InStyle was there with jazz hands.

Hamilton won 7 awards

Hamilton

Hamilton won big and if you’ve seen it you will know why. The musical tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton with a mix of hip-hop, rhythm and blues, pop and soul music and traditional show tunes.

She won the best actress in a supporting role in a musical, Girl from the North Country and gave one of the most inspiring speeches of the evening. “I want to acknowledge some of the women who have been on this stage before me – last year, for example, Noma Dumezweni and Amber Riley, because they’ve been here accepting awards and they look a bit like me. And that to me is very, very important.”
